A notary is authorized to perform the following 10 actions:
- Perform signature verification (notarization) on each document.
- To confirm that the person signing a document, on behalf of another person, holds the power of attorney to do so.
- Confirm that a copy of a document is an accurate and correct copy.
- Confirm that the translation of a document is accurate and correct.
- Receive and confirm an affidavit.
- To confirm that the person is among the living.
- Confirm that the inventory list is correct.
- Edit the witness of a negotiable document.
- To draw up a document when its drawing up is required or permitted by law by a notary (such as a will).
- Use of the notary's authority under any other law (after obtaining an apostille certificate as necessary)
